1.7 Home Is Where the Bedroom Is

We had to scramble around to find a place we could afford that would fit all five of us on a really tight budget.

But we found it! It’s a cute little duplex close to the Courthouse so that Hetal will have a quick commute to work.

Of course, the house was about ALL we could afford.

At least everyone has a place to sleep, including the kitties.

If we eat in shifts, we’ll be all right until we can get a bit more money coming in.

Fortunately, Hetal wasn’t asking for all that much. We have each other, a roof over our heads, and a bedroom.

That bedroom part is very important.

I really hope she likes our new home. We wanted to scamper upstairs and get some alone time before Hetal’s mother got home from hanging out with her best friend.

But it was a new place, and we were trying too hard.

Nothing quite worked out as we planned.

Fortunately, Hetal said she had a better idea.

Our wedding night ended up just fine.

And I got to sleep by my wife for the very first time. Wife! Can you believe that!

I had sweet dreams. I hope Hetal did too.

When I got up the next morning, Hetal was already downstairs cooking me breakfast. I could get used to this.

Then came the moment of truth. My mother-in-law came home. Her name is Jin, and she looks terrifying.

But she immediately started cleaning all the dishes. Finally someone was cleaning up around here!

Cheshire headed outside a made a new friend.

I hope Dinah doesn’t get jealous!

I decided to have some fun with Jin.

It turns out I’m scarier than she is!

Of course, that might not have been the best idea for family relationships.

The view out the window is lovely. I can see just a bit of the fire house from here too.

But I swear, these crumb-filled plats just get left around everywhere! I just put my dirty plate down on the counter, and it’s still here! Disgusting!

Blah blah blah, yadda yadda. Talk to the hand. It’s talking to you.

I made sure that Dinah got extra cuddles while Cheshire was out roughhousing with some strange kitty.

But as I bent over, I had the most awful feeling.

Ugh! I hope I don’t have the stomach flu! That’s not the way to spend your honeymoon.

We now have idiots, and we’ve moved into an apartment! So far, the idiots are taking better care of the place than Allison did.

Gameplay note: I have Same Sex Try for Baby set on Twallan’s mod to impregnate randomly, so I have no idea who will turn up pregnant for a given baby chime.

The new apartment is 4603 Scarlet Lane.

I discovered after falling in love with it that there is NO PLACE to put a double bed in either bedroom. Well then. Not sure what the logic was in that.After Allison and Hetal failed to get to the bed that I thought I had placed correctly, I managed to place one via moveobjects that works fine and looks OK. However, the long-term plan is to put it on a wider lot and expand the whole structure several squares. The Wonderlands can’t afford that right now of course.

Otherwise, the place is adorable. Money is tight, and it’s kind of fun for it to be tight. I’ve added a handicap to this legacy that I can’t buy No Bills Ever, so it should be longer before the household assets explode. I had to strip out most of the furniture to buy this place, even with the money Hetal and Jin brought in. Then after I started playing, I realized that the inflated price was coming from a ton of art on the walls. So they’re living on folding chairs, but they have a big Nicely Decorated moodlet all the time. I’m going to leave it that way because it seems so appropriate for Insanity :).

1.6 Junkyard Love

Dinah really wanted some of the cake slice that I left on the counter the night before, but Cheshire made sure she couldn’t get to it. Cheshire is so responsible that way. I’m sure he didn’t eat any himself.

The day dawned dark and rainy. That’s Hetal’s favorite kind of day, you know. I hope she was thinking of me when she looked at the rain. I didn’t used to like rainy days at all. Sunny days are so much more cheerful and friendly. But now that I know how much my true love likes them, I’m going to see if I can figure out what might be good about them.

Running out to catch my carpool is definitely NOT one of those good things.

I’m getting to know my coworkers better, though, and that makes work a lot of fun.

Today, we got a call from Serena Durwood, who set fire to her kitchen. Her house was pretty nice. Rick Lugosi doesn’t seem to be down anymore. He said his ex-girlfriend was “taken care of.” There are some things it’s better not to ask about, especially from a vampire.

Serena didn’t really look like the kind of person who did her own cooking. Maybe she shouldn’t get near the stove anymore.

The kitchen fire was the biggest fire I’ve ever put out, and I did it all by myself. It was such a pretty fire. Moonlight Falls Fire Department was so impressed that I got another promotion!

I have this job aced.

When I got outside after the fire was long out, Serena was still freaking out in the back yard.

I told her not to worry. This is my job. People pay me to put out fires. Everything was under control.

Once Serena started to calm down, she really wanted to talk. She followed me back to the truck to talk.

And talk.

And talk some more. She sure didn’t seem to mind the rain. I didn’t really enjoy getting soaked, but she was having such a good time, I thought it would be impolite to say so.

Serena turns out to be a witch too! I’m just a witch magnet. That part’s not too bad.

When I finally dragged back to the firehouse and changed clothes, it was almost quitting time. I quickly got in a bit of maintenance on the fire alarm. I really wanted to see Hetal again. I didn’t have any money left to go out to dinner, but I wonder if she’d go for some kind of intellectual date. Maybe the art museum?

Just before I grabbed my phone, it rang on its own! It was Hetal! She wanted to invite me out on a date. It’s like we were cosmically connected.

She gave me the address of the place where she wanted to meet. I was out the door and on my bike faster than you could say, “Lickety split!”

I have to say that Hetal’s choice of romantic locations surprised me. The address she gave me turned out to be the local junkyard.

When Hetal arrived, she was dressed in a cap and gown. She’d come straight from her high school graduation ceremony. How sweet!

She said she’d just gotten a job as a Podium Polisher at the courthouse. My girl was a future Leader of the Free World! I was so proud.

Hetal really appreciated my hard day at work, and she wanted to help me relax. She truly has magic fingers.

I got lost just looking in her eyes.

I knew what I wanted to do, so I just stopped worrying and rolled with it.

Hetal said yes!

I figured she’d want a big wedding, but she didn’t want to wait at all. She said she couldn’t think of a better place to become my wife.

I’m not sure I exactly get the romance of a junkyard. I guess the bits of scrap did sparkle in the sunset. And the only other people there with us were also clearly in love, so maybe it’s just me who thought it was weird.

I guess there are a lot of things about Hetal I’m going to spend my life figuring out. I can’t wait to start.

Hetal Anjali became Hetal Wonderland that night, and we started our life together.

As I held her close, she whispered in my ear, “Do you think your house is big enough for all of us?”

“All of us?” I asked.

“You, me, and my mom,” she said. “Of course Mom is going to live with us.”

Oh.

I could not have come up with something funnier if I tried. I don’t know which expansion added the ability of townies to call you for dates, but it’s fabulous. Hetal really did call right as I was clicking Allison’s phone to ask her out on a date. Only a Sims townie would invite someone out on a date to the junk yard. But apparently it’s a pretty popular spot for lovers in Moonlight Falls.

The junkyard isn’t the one that came with the town. I don’t have anything against Grady’s Junkstop, but I already played it in Sunset Valley. I downloaded the Meteor Aftermath Junkyard from Mod The Sims. If I’d realized such an important event would happen there after dark, I’d’ve added lights.

1.5 Summer Romance

Dawn broke on another lovely day in Moonlight Falls.

 

Birds were chirping. Kitties were frolicking.

And some lady at the park was spontaneously combusting.

 

Fortunately nobody was seriously hurt.

 

(The camera directed me to this event. I think I might have gotten a popup about it from Twallan and accidentally clicked it. Heh.)

Today was Leisure Day! And I couldn’t think of anyone I wanted to spend it with more.

 

Hetal said she couldn’t meet me at the Eerie Festival Park because she today was her birthday! She wanted to throw some sort of a party.

“That’s great!” I said. “I’ll bring a cake and we can have the party at the park!”

“Umm…” she said. “OK. If you buy the cake.”

So I immediately headed out to find the best cake I could and bring it to Eerie Park. It wiped out my savings again, but it was to such a great cause!

 

Eerie park was nicely decorated for the summer festival.

 

Hetal arrived right after I did. My, she was nicely decorated, if you know what I mean.

 

I told her she looked like a shining star, the kind of star who could be someone’s lifetime wish.

 

She wanted to know where the cake was, so I showed it to her. She seemed pretty happy.

 

I told her to be quick and blow out the candles.

 

She brought a couple of her girlfriends from school to cheer for her too.

 

 

 

Didn’t she age up nicely?

 

Now, I swear I was not obsessing over a highschool girl. My motives toward Hetal while she was a kid were completely pure. But now she’s all grown up, and I have to confess that now my motives are…. not so pure. She’s so smart and lovely!

 

But I couldn’t get a chance to talk to her with everyone crowding in for free cake.

 

And then I really had to go pee. Hey! Who put the men’s room here??

 

When I finally found the bathroom, I had to take a few minutes to freshen up.

 

I really wanted to look my best!

 

When I got out of the bathroom, Hetal was taking a spin around the broom arena. The wind was in her hair, and her eyes were alight with the adventure of flying. She couldn’t have been more beautiful.

 

I so wish I were a witch and could ride on a broom like that!

I gave myself a quick talking to before I lost my nerve. It was now or never! I had to let her know how I felt.

 

She told me I was awfully nice, but she had to go to the bathroom right now. I couldn’t let her go away, so I followed. That didn’t go so well.

 

The bathroom was getting to be awfully popular. There was no way I could talk about my feelings here!

 

I finally managed to get Hetal to come back outside, where I nervously asked her if she was planning to marry anyone in the next, oh, week or too.

 

She told me that she didn’t have anyone in mind. I was so happy!

So happy I kind of lost control of myself.

 

She actually didn’t mind! She said she’d kind of been waiting for me to do that.

 

There, under the stars, Hetal Anjali agreed to be my girl.

 

The rest of the evening was a blur. I could barely see straight on the ride home.

 

I settled down with a slice of leftover birthday cake. Since I wiped out my food budget to buy it, I was going to see a lot of that cake.

 

That night, I dreamed the best kind of dreams.

Hope everyone had a good holiday!

Allison really did roll a high-powered wish to be a witch. I thought about it, but I didn’t lock it in. She’s dirt poor right now, and it doesn’t really match my vision for her.

Hetal jumped right in and met Allison with her own autonomous romantics. They do make a cute couple. I’m pretty happy the poll closed before all those William votes could crowd her out 🙂 :).

I have my memory upgrade installed, the new Windows 7 virtual machine set up, and so far the game is running like a dream. I’ve only played it on the Wonderland save so far, though. I’m still sort of scared to find out if the Samples are crashing for some other reason…. Wish me luck!

1.4 First Date

When I got up in the morning, I found that the kitchen was starting to smell disgusting! Why doesn’t anyone clean around here?

 

I had my breakfast in the living room, since the kitchen was so gross.

 

When I got to work, Rick Lugosi seemed to be really depressed.

 

My boring mortal coworker whose name I haven’t bothered to learn told me that his girlfriend dumped him.

 

Vampires like to get all mopey and brooding, so I figured I’d just leave him to it.

I finally got to try out the fireman’s pole!

 

Which was very important because mortal girl was telling a ghost story.

 

She tells a good story. Maybe she’s not quite so boring after all. It’s not like she can help being mortal.

 

Then something awful occurred to me!

 

I’d forgotten to feed the kitties! I sneaked out of the station and rushed home on my bicycle.

 

Wow, it’s really gotten awful in here! Nobody ever cleans up anything, and the sofa is shredded.

 

Even Dinah gave herself a nasty cold shower!

Well, I gave them their food. I’m so sorry poor Dinah had to wait and get hungry!

 

When I got back, it didn’t look like anyone had noticed I was gone.

 

William dropped by to show off his fangs. They’re such attractive fangs, but I do wonder how one can clean them properly.

 

I was so tired after the mad dash home and back that I headed upstairs to take a nap. William and Chris seemed to be having a heated conversation. William really loved a book by some guy named Shakespeare, and Chris hated it. Men.

 

I didn’t let their little spat get in the way of my sleep!

 

I woke up later to the sound of William yelling at his video game. Apparently he really gets into Grand Theft Auto. But he should watch his language!

 

I dreamed about Hetal, and I couldn’t wait until I was off duty to try to see her again. I called her from the station to see if she might be interested in dropping by just to hang out.

 

I was so surprised and happy when she agreed! I came outside to find her swearing at the side of the garage. She seemed to think there was supposed to be a door there.

 

I found her, and we had a lovely chat about the weather. She really loves dark rainy days.

 

I prefer sunny days. They just make you feel so cheerful!

 

We kept chatting until I got off duty. Then I worked up my courage to ask her to go do something after work. That’s it! We could take a tour of the arboretum!

 

The arboretum glows beautifully at night. We had a great time looking at all the plants.

When we finished, I was really hungry.

 

I didn’t want our time together to end, so I asked her to go out to the diner with me. My treat!

 

I didn’t think that through very well. Our meal wiped out the rest of my paycheck. I almost had to do dishes to pay off the bill. It might have been better if Hetal hadn’t ordered the Lobster Thermidore, which was the most expensive thing on the menu, but how could I deny her anything?

Hetal seemed to think the whole thing was a pretty good time. I’m so glad.

 

She asked me what I thought about living a life of crime. I told her I’d never thought about it, but maybe it would be okay if it involved a lot of fire.

 

It was getting so late. I finally forced myself to say goodbye. I told Hetal I really hoped to see her again soon. She said she’d be glad to go out with me if I paid for some more meals.

I left her on the sidewalk doing her homework.

 

And I headed home in the dark, thinking about her.

 

When I got home, I’d finally had it with the place being a pit. Somebody had to clean things up around here, and since nobody else was doing it, I’d just have to do it myself.

 

I was lucky to see another kitty drop by!

 

She was so cute.

 

Oh, and THIS was why the whole kitchen smelled so bad. I never cleaned up the horrible burned mac’n’cheese from last week. Whoops.

 

I took care of that.

 

And I got a bit of quality time in with Cheshire. It was getting really late, but I had missed him all day.

 

Then I remembered I would be able to sleep in tomorrow because it was Leisure Day! Yay!

Well, this gets me caught back up. Not having to think of a plot or track more than one character certainly makes posts faster to write! It’s also easy to fall into the one-post-per-day rhythm. I still have a goal of getting through an entire pregnancy in one post. We’ll see how that goes 🙂 :).

You’ll notice that William is suddenly paler. It turns out he wasn’t actually a vampire after all. Now I’m kind of disappointed with his skintone. He was so much sexier before he was a vampire. Hmmmm.

I really had forgotten just how much it costs for two people to eat at the diner when you’re still on starting funds. That meal wiped her out. Whoops. Though the Samples have been so rich for so long that I’m kind of enjoying having to think about money. I think I am going to add a new handicap to my game: I cannot buy No Bills Ever.

And a little cameo from Sim!Mist. That was cute. I wonder if she’ll still be around to breed to Cheshire and Dinah’s heir. Hmmmm. She is pretty interesting looking for a sim cat. I downloaded somebody’s tortoiseshell marking pattern and dialed back the colors to get a dilute tortie, which is what Mist is.

I’m not terribly impressed with Moonlight Falls’ diner rabbithole. I’ve always liked the Bistro better anyway. I downloaded a bistro recolor that I’m going to place someplace in town.

1.3 Groundhog Day

Sun rose over the beautiful Moonlight Mountains, which I can see from my front porch.

 

My last dream of the night is about Cheshire. It’s just perfect to wake up with his adorable face in my mind.

 

I hope Cheshire is having a nice morning, since I won’t have much time to spend with him this morning.

 

Time for another day of saving lives and valuable property!

 

First, a nice luxurious bath.

 

Then I made sure that the kitties had plenty of yummy food to last them until I could get home to foozle them.

 

They really have scratched up the furniture, though. The poor dears are bored. I wish I had more entertainment to offer them, but money is still pretty tight.

I can at least afford a scratching post for them.

 

But I guess they don’t like it all that much.

 

Oh dear, I spent too much time feeding and tending to kitties, and it made me late for work!

I had to pedal really fast. I do want anyone to notice I’m gone. I’m trying to make a good impression!

 

When I got to the station, I immediately started working before talking to anyone. Maybe they’d just assume I had been there all along.

The first rays of the morning sun struck my beautiful new cottage here in Moonlight Falls.

 

Time to get up and start the new day!

 

First, I dashed downstairs to feed the kitties.

 

I didn’t want to leave them until last. I can always take a quicker bath if time gets short in the morning, but I couldn’t leave the house without making sure they’re taken care of!

 

I did have to take a pretty short bath, but I was rewarded by the sight of the kitties enjoying their new scratching post, which I set up in the yard to be sure they had plenty of space to use it.

 

I caught my carpool to work just before they were about to leave without me. Whew!

 

But I got there before any of the other firefighters had shown up. Being the first one to work is sure to make a good impression!

Firefighters are supposed to be very fit and athletic. I guess I should get working on that.

 

Hey! This treadmill is really fun!

Mmmmmf. Why do I get the feeling that something really stupid is going on??

 

OK, let’s get going.

 

Feed the kitties. Check. Take a bath.

 

Check.

At least the kitties were enjoying their new outdoor scratching post.

 

When I got to work, that hot fellow William was pumping iron. How can I complain about that?

 

I decided to join him. What better motivation to work out than to watch him working out?

 

Then again, maybe it was a little too distracting.

 

When William finished his workout, I swear he gave me The Look as he was walking away.

 

I finished my workout with this strange kind of elation. Why was it so exciting that I got to the end of my second morning at work?

I didn’t have much time to think about it, though, because the alarm went off.

 

Ooh! An emergency! And at a really nice house this time!

 

I grabbed my warm coat so I’d be warm in case the fire was really cold.

 

Did I mention I love fire? It gives me goosebumps to think I’m going to get close to more of it!

 

I’m so sorry, lovely fire, that we have to part like this. Believe me, if I could change if I could so that we could be together forever.

 

Another tragic end to a beautiful fire.

 

But I got a promotion! That made me feel a lot better. I’m so glad that my bosses are noticing how hard I work!

I celebrated with ice cream, compliments of the fire house!

 

William dropped by the kitchen, so I told him the great news.

 

He said it was great that I was moving up in the world. But he seemed to be hinting I’d be even better at something else. I didn’t really follow.

 

But you know, the more I looked at him, the more I thought about someone else.

 

This amazing specimen of man walking around the fire house with his shirt off, and all I can think of is Hetal Anjali smiling at me in the library when I first got to Moonlight Falls. I really need to see her again.

When I got home, I gave her a call. I told her what I thought — that her smile was more precious than diamonds and that I had to see her again.

 

She told me she couldn’t talk right now because she had to do her homework.

Hetal. Why couldn’t I get her out of my head? I took a long relaxing bath and thought about it.

 

Little did I know, Cheshire was making a new friend outside after the moon rose.

Finally got a chance to play a couple of days with Allison! And of course, I immediately had a series of game crashes.

After this, the Wonderland game has played fairly smoothly. I just discovered that my memory upgrade hadn’t arrived because it was still sitting in my shopping cart on the Apple Store site. Siiigh. So now I have actually purchased it, and it should arrive shortly.

Hetal out to an early lead, then William overtakes her, then Hetal and William are neck-and-neck, but Chris is coming up from behind….

And it’s a tie! Hetal and William!

A TIE? Seriously? How can you do this to me??

I jumped the gun and wrote up the results with an hour left on the poll because surely there are not enough simblog readers out there for voting to really go up to the end. Then I finished writing, reloaded the blog, and with 45 minutes to go one more person voted.

Below is the post I wrote before the final check. As the arbiter of ties, I’m going to let it stand. But William’s come-from-behind half-victory is going to have to factor in somehow…

And it’s Hetal Anjali by one vote!

I spent a stupid amount of time reloading the poll to watch the voting. It was nail biting.

Well, color me surprised. Hetal was my favorite. I tried not to let it show. Not sure if I succeeded :). She just really has a face that hearkens to fairy tale witches while also being nontraditionally attractive. I figured one of the spicy celebrity sims would win.

Also, as the generations roll, finding an EA sim who looks really interesting is going to get harder. I don’t know how many generations it takes for townies to end up with totally bland faces with the genetic mixer, but it turns out to not be very many. It’s not really EA’s fault; there are mathematical reasons why this is a hard problem, assuming faces are paired up essentially randomly. At any rate, I see a lot of celebrity sims in this legacy’s future, so it’s nice to get in an EA one.

William would have been my second choice because of the legendary Spike cheekbones. Though truth be told, the designer used some makeup shading on his cheeks, so I don’t know how hollowed out they really are without taking off the makeup — I assume they’re as high and prominent as the editor can handle. (And OK, I wouldn’t mind watching him walk around my game for a generation either. But I was trying to think only about his genes.)

Random side-note: I’m not sure that even James Marsters ever really had the Spike cheekbones. In some shots you can actually tell he’s sucking in his cheeks to get that effect. Snerk.

After that, it was a toss-up between Chris and Marigold. Nobody liked Marigold. Poor sim. Let’s not tell her. Then again, she was never in danger of having to marry Allison, which you might view as a benefit.

Note: I did a Google search, and it turns out that there is in fact a way to back-hack a poll into a post. I will try this in the future. Instructions here.

Now I can go back to playing!

Gen 1 Mate Advisory Poll!

You’re all invited to advise me on who Allison should make babies with! I have a sort-of favorite, but we’ll see what you think!

Remember, we are looking for INTERESTING faces. I find that perfectly beautiful faces are often not interesting. But this is also not an uglacy. I’m only going to include sims I think fit the criteria.

In the order Allison met them:

Marigold Maldano

 

Marigold is the only fairy Allison has met so far. Her face didn’t immediately interest me, but the more I look at it, the more distinctive it seems. I’m pretty tired of that old hairstyle. If she wins, I’ll give her a new one. But she’s a a very fierce, determined face.

Hetal Anjali

 

Hetal is a witch.

If this were an Uglacy, Hetal’s mother Jin Anjali would win hands down. She’s the most amazingly ugly EA sim I’ve ever seen. Jin was assigned to be a (heh) Stylist in my town, and when I saw her on the street, I just had to pause the game and stare. She’s more impressive in the game — more like ugly as an art form.

Hetal, on the other hand, grows on me the longer I look at her. She’s really rather exotically attractive. She’s a teen, but I am more than happy to age her up.

I’m taking Param Singh out of the running because his face doesn’t interest me. Also, he’s the only supernatural Allison met who was already married. OTOH, he has a brother and sister-in-law in Starlight Shores who look MUCH more interesting. They may show up in Moonlight Falls at a later date.

Rick Lugosi

 

Rick is a vampire. As we mentioned in comments, he’s an EA sim inspired by Bela Lugosi, the original 1930s Count Dracula. Despite the age lines, he’s an Adult. It looks like he has a subtly off-green skintone, I assume using the new color sliders.

Chris Whoovian

 

Chris is an Adult werewolf. He’s a celebrity sim of the 9th Doctor Who. I dropped him into the game for genetic diversity, and also because I like Doctor Who :).

He’s the only sim I don’t have a terribly good picture of. Also, the game inexplicably changed his hair — his original hair is an EA hair. I didn’t notice immediately, but I think the one he was designed with looks better on him.

Here are his promo shots from ModtheSims, which should give you a better idea of what he looks like.

I do have to say that if this were the 10th Doctor, played by David Tennant, there would be no poll. He’s in the game, but Allison didn’t meet him. I reserve the right to drop him back in the game later to pair off with some future heir.

And last but certainly not least, William Pierce.

 

William is, as you might expect, a vampire. He’s a sim of Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He is by far the hottest sim in the poll, but Spike’s always had an incredibly interesting face, and I think this is one of the best sim look-alikes I’ve ever seen. He should be thinner. Spike always seemed to have about -10% body fat. Whether or not he wins the heir poll, I may tweak his weight and see if I can’t get a thin sim with all those lovely muscles.

On the negative side, he’s currently engaged to Buffy’s sim, Beatrice Saunders. Breaking them up might be a little rough on us Spuffy ‘shippers.

One thing that WordPress really seems to have going for it is the ability to put the poll IN THE POST. As far as I can tell, Blogger only lets you put one on the sidebar. I think I’ll edit this post when the poll is closed to put in the results for posterity.

You can vote for more than one option in the poll. Just don’t vote for EVERYONE :).

Also, to my deep annoyance, I don’t seem to be able to change the text color on the choices. Sorry. You can always drag-select over them to read them :-p.

Sun rose over the beautiful mountains of Moonlight Falls.

I was up bright an early to give myself some good advice. I want to make a good impression on my first day of work!

The problem is that I’m SUCH a know-it-all. I can’t understand why I never listen to myself.

If today goes badly, I better not come crying to me. I’ll have only myself to blame.

THIS is what I had waiting for me downstairs.

I even moved the kitty bed for them.

As soon as they smelled me making breakfast, the kitties were awake. I had their undivided attention.

Especially Dinah.

I mean, how can you resist this face??

Breakfast didn’t turn out exactly how I planned.

So I had to improvise.

So after all my planning, I was almost late!

I had to run after the carpool, but fortunately the driver noticed me screaming and waving and stopped so I could get in.

My driver was the only female firefighter I met at the station. I forgot to get her name because she was so boring compared to everyone else.

First a vampire came in for duty!

His name was Rick Lugosi. I asked him what he’d think of just running off to elope with me.

He said he didn’t even know me yet, much less want to marry me. I told him there was a potion that could fix that.

Then a werewolf! His name was Chris Whoovian.

I asked him if he grew really big fangs when he transformed, and if so how did he brush them?

I can’t believe I’m going to get paid to do this!

Upstairs, I found a vampire named William Pierce. He apparently likes to spend most of his time hanging around watching TV with no shirt. Not that I’m complaining.

He also likes to paint pictures with no shirt. Mmmmm.

William offered to show me how to polish the great big beautiful red fire engine. I said I would love to.

Then something even better happened! The alarm went off. We had a real job!!

Really quick, I changed into my formalwear. I wanted to make the best impression.

All the way to the fire, the sirens went, “Woowoowoowoo!” It was so exciting.

But I had trouble enjoying it because I forgot to pee before I left.

Just in case I had an accident, I stripped down to my swimwear. But I made sure I looked really tough for the poor panicking civilian whose house I was going to save.

The fire was in her garage. A real, honest-to-goodness fire! It was soooo beautiful.

It was hard to make myself put out such a beautiful fire, but I must say I looked rather dashing doing it.

Just me and the fire, one on one.

Yike! What was that?

Firefirefirefirefire!

And I still haven’t had a chance to pee!

OK, I just had a fire extinguisher that I used to put out the house fire. So what should I do? That’s it! I’ll drive home in the fire engine!

Wait, there’s a swimming pool!

Firefirefirefirefire!

There’s water!

Much better.

Did you see that? Did you see???

I was ON FIRE!!!

I LOVE THIS JOB!

Whee! Now we’ve pretty much gotten up to where I stopped playing, and you’ve met most Allison’s mate options unless something wild and crazy happens on her next day.

Pick out the celebrity sims I dropped into the game! Two of them ended up as firefighters. Ha! If you know the television shows, they shouldn’t be too hard to pick out :).

BTW: I think that after Disciplined, Daredevil is the worst explained trait in the game. In fact, I think it might be worse than Disciplined, because the problem with that trait is just its name, not the description you get if you mouse over it. But Daredevil’s description is just really vague. I spent quite a while with Veronica trying to figure out what was cool about being a Daredevil. I play her as generically a daredevil, but not specifically a Sims daredevil because as far as I could tell, a sims Daredevil was just a more boring form of Brave.

Nope. The deal with Daredevils is that they’re obsessed with fire. Other than the social interaction “Watch This,” where they eat dirt to creep out other people and get an Adrenaline Rush, the primary way they can get Adrenaline Rush is to Play with Fire. Click a fire with a Daredevil sim, and you’ll get the interaction. THAT gives them an Adrenaline Rush. And more importantly, Daredevils can’t be killed by fire. Forget your Brave firefighters. You want Daredevils.

That said, I’m not sure how that scene was supposed to play out if she hadn’t been protected. She caught fire while putting extinguishing the house fire. She couldn’t extinguish herself, and there was no pool of water or shower on the lot (just a bathub). So I send her home. She gets INTO THE FIRETRUCK, still burning (I thought I caught the flames in the screenshot, but I didn’t sadly). And it automatically drops her off at the swimming pool.

The whole time, I had, “Stop, drop, and roll, stupid!” yelling in my head.

But being that she was a Daredevil, she got the biggest happy moodlet from the whole experience.

After I enlisted at the fire department, I headed back home to check on the kitties. I always worry about them when I’m away.

Of course, I shouldn’t worry. My kitties are very capable of taking care of themselves. Cheshire looks out for little Dinah. He’s always playing with her.

 

She worships the ground he walks on.

 

Then I looked up and saw a guy jogging past the house. It’s time to meet the neighbors! “Hello! Wait up!” I cried.

“Huh?” the guy skidded to a stop.

 

“Hi! I’m Allison Wonderland, and I’m your new neighbor! I’m sure we’ll be great friends!”

 

“Hello,” he grunted. “I’m Gladsten Farmwell.” His handshake was all sweaty, but I guess that’s what’s supposed to happen when you jog. I wouldn’t know.

“Did you catch any fish?” I asked.

 

“Fish?” he asked. “I wasn’t going fishing. I was just taking a jog.”

“Oh, I know!” I said. “I meant, like, if you’d caught any fish ever.”

“Uh, yeah. Actually I like to fish. I know where all the good spots are. I could take you sometime.”

“That’s OK,” I said. “I don’t actually like to fish.”

“Riiight. Hot day we’re having.”

 

“You’re right! It sure is hot!”

 

What a boring guy.

 

He wasn’t even supernatural or anything, not the littlest bit. I came to Moonlight Falls to meet supernatural people!

I ditched the loser and headed out see more of the town.

Now this is more like it!

 

 

Her name is Marigold Maldano, and she’s a fairy!

 

She said she was just heading to the library to catch up on her reading, so I followed her inside.

 

The library appears to be a supernatural hotspot in Moonlight Falls. Who would have thought it?

 

Hetal Anjali here is a witch!

 

She totally did NOT give me the eye.

 

I apologized for my job. I mean, even if I love fire more than anything else except my kitties, I’d never set anything on fire intentionally. Well, at least hardly ever. Certainly not the library.

 

She was delighted to meet me and said I should come over to taste some potions.

 

And then there was Param Sing, who’s a werewolf!

 

I asked him if he got hairy like Bigfoot.

 

He changed the subject really quickly to something about butterflies.

 

In no time at all, it was time for me to get home to get some sleep. Tomorrow is my big first day of work, and I don’t want to be tired!

 

I slept well and dreamed of my kitties.

The kitties slept well too.

 

 

But nobody seems to want to sleep in the nice, comfy kitty bed by me.

 

Sigh.

I didn’t realize until later than neither cat seems to be able to climb the spiral staircase on their own, which makes this house a bit less fun. Sadly, Allison may be moving soon.

I don’t have any particular attachment to Allison’s sexual orientation, so I figure males and females are both game to be mates. However, upon consideration, I think her mate will have to be a supernatural. She is, after all, a Supernatural Enthusiast. So I’m going to present potential mates in the next couple of chapters. Please let me know which faces you like! I am considering putting up an advisory mate poll :).

Oh. Ahem. Hello there! My name is Allison Wonderland, and I just know we’ll be friends!

I’m new here to Moonlight Falls. The kitties and I arrived last night with just the clothes on our backs. Well, that and a nice inheritance from my late grandfather that bought us the most adorable little cottage to live in.

 

I had to bring my kitties with me. They’re more are more my family than my real family ever was. There’s Cheshire.

 

Cheshire is super-smart. Cats are just way smarter than anyone gives them credit for. Well, except me. I know what cats are like. Sometimes I think I’m part cat myself.

I can always depend on Cheshire. I don’t know what I’d do without him. And there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for me.

 

 

 

Eek!

 

No kitty treats for you tonight!

 

A little snippy today, aren’t we? You just have to put up with the temperamental geniuses. Don’t think he was actually angry with me or anything. Cheshire worships the ground I walk on.

Really, I swear.

Then there’s Dinah. She’s the sweetest kitten there ever was, and she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body.

 

Isn’t she a little cutesy-wootsey little kitty-witty?

I always used to wonder what I would be when I grew up, and now I’m all grown up and should pick something. One thing I really, really like is fire. So I think I’m going to be a firefighter! They spend a lot of time around fire.

Once I got the kitties settled, I headed over to the local fire station to enlist. You don’t enlist in the fire department? Well, I’m sure you can do something to get a job.

 

It’s a nice place, I think!

 

But nobody was there. I hope there weren’t any fires in Moonlight Falls today.

 

Clearly they need more firefighters, so I figured nobody would mind if I just took a couple of uniforms out of the closet and showed up for work tomorrow.

Hello, and welcome to the Wonderland Weirdacy. This is a Sims 3 “I’m Surrounded by Idiots” challenge. The theme, as you can probably guess, is Alice in Wonderland, though themes usually don’t last long in legacies.

This legacy is intended to be pretty much the opposite of my high-effort, heavy-plot, micromanaged Pinstar Legacy, which you can find over at Sample a Brave Legacy.

Things I am NOT going to try to do with this challenge:

1. Plot
2. Fancy photography. Thought balloons, relationship icons, and plumbobs are your friends!
3. Logical character behavior. If everyone is Insane, then illogic is the rule of the day anyway.

Things I AM going to try to do with this challenge:

1. Combine a bunch of different supernatural species in one genetic line, using Twallan’s Hybrid mod to express them all.
2. Stuff my game full of as many autonomy mods as I can find.
3. Get to 5 generations.
4. Score points.

I haven’t decided which flavor of ISBI rules to use. There are several rule tweaks out there, and I intend to add a couple of house rules myself. All of this will be on the About page for this blog when I finish it.

Since there aren’t many names to pull out of the Alice books, I’m going to go with the “Allison” gag and continue to name children with names that sound like they end with “in,” “at,” “of,” “on,” etc. Feel free to suggest some names on the Name Suggestions page!
